"Every person born into this world represents something new…that never existed before. For if there had been someone like him, there would have been no need for him to be in the world. Every person’s foremost task is the actualization of their unique, unprecedented and never recurring potentialities and not the repetition of something that another, be it even the greatest, has already achieved." Martin Buber
Cosmopsychology is a powerful tool for self-reflection and dialogue about your unique path of self-discovery. It is the study of an individual's unique and evolving expression of consciousness at a particular moment and place in human history.
The entire expanse of human culture was born as our earliest ancestors gathered around their fires and gazed with wonder into the infinite and ever-changing night sky. Over millenniums they observed that cyclic changes in the sky correlated predictably with earthly events that were crucial to their survival like the changing seasons, plant life cycles and the migration of animals. Later they discovered that the celestial patterns they charted were vital in helping them navigate the seas which enabled an expansion of their horizons far beyond the familiar.
"Whatever is born or done at this particular moment of time has the quality of this moment in time."  C.G. Jung
As our ancestors charted the cyclic changes in the spatial relationships between celestial bodies, they also noted how these cycles correlate with meaningful terrestrial events and shifts in human consciousness. Every culture developed a symbolic language and mythology to communicate their understanding of the evolving cosmos and its relationship with the many dimensions of the human experience. For example the planets Venus and Mars were named after prominent figures in Roman mythology and are associated with the human experiences of love, beauty, desire and aggression.
"The existence of correlations between human life and planetary cycles makes it possible for both individuals and societies to understand better what archetypal energies are at work and at what time. It's like knowing the weather report before going out into the ocean to sail or surf. Modern civilization pays a high price for living in a universe that it believes is random and spiritually meaningless." Richard Tarnas, The Passion of the Western Mind
"What is below is like what is above. And what is above is like what is below. so that the miracle of the One may be accomplished.”  Tabula Smaragdina
Consciousness pervades the cosmos and is expressed on multiple levels simultaneously in time and space like Indra's net. Each of us is born as an expression of our cosmos at a particular moment and place in human history and we have a unique contribution to life on our planet. When you trust in the meaning of your place in human history it is easier to create your unique contribution to the symphony of life.
"Each person has come into manifestation for a certain purpose and that purpose will be accomplished whether they consider themselves to be the actor or not.” Ramana Maharishi
Our unique journey is expressed symbolically in the form of a mandala, a circular map used for contemplation. This wheel of life expresses the symbolic relationships between cosmos and psyche that are unique for each of us.
Everything within the wheel of existence arises from its center, which appears as nothing (no-thing) because it is the One, the infinite that gives birth to all phenomena. Like waves traveling across a vast ocean every human being is a unique expression of that from which we all emerge and live.
"The nature of God is a circle. The center is everywhere and the circumference is nowhere."  Empedocles

“Everything the power of the world does
is done in a circle. The sky is round,
And I have heard that the earth is round
Like a ball, and so are all the stars.
The wind, in its greatest power, whirls.
Birds make their nest in circles,
For theirs is the same religion as ours.
The sun comes forth and goes down again
In a circle. The moon does the same
And both are round. Even the seasons
Form a great circle in their changing,
And always come back again to where they were.
The life of a man is a circle from childhood to childhood,
And so it is in everything where the power moves.”
